Lost in hand-rolled tobacco land

Like most thirty something men, I have had some exposure to cigars off and on most of my adult life. The idea of celebrating good times with a cigar is deeply ingrained in the American psyche. However, my previous forays in to the cigar world had been a bit hit and miss. Ranging from Swisher Sweets and Black and Mild on one end and a few premium hand-made cigars on the other. As I said these experience had been a bit of hit and miss, but were enough to keep my interest alive.

In the last year and a half, I have started to take a much more serious look at cigars. This was probably kicked off by two things: getting married and moving to a new place very close to a cigar shop/lounge. Getting married helped kick start my interest by giving me so many occasions to celebrate: showers, family meetings, rehearsal dinners reception, etc... many of these occasions seems to be fodder for a celebratory cigar. The marriage also helped since my beautiful new wife's father is a cigar smoker. Finally, as I was looking to buy grooms men's gifts, I hit upon getting a small desktop humidor of them. Eventually following through with this idea, I "accidentally" ordered an extra that ended up being mine. This combined with the easy access I had to a cigar lounge significantly increased my exposure.

Now, I have explained what gote me interested in cigars now I want to share why a blog. The simple answer is that I was greatly disappointed with the online tools avilabe for new cigar smokers. To help out other begineers, I am going to start docummenting my successes and failures as i stumblee in to the world of cigars. I am planning on discussing beginners cigar suggestions, humidors, lighters, cutters, cigar lounge reviews, etc...
